Failed auto theft attempt caught on camera after Grimsby home invasion

WESHH Avatar

Owners of a home in Grimsby managed to record a home invasion that nearly resulted in their cars being stolen.

Niagara police were called to the home on Winston Road and Kelson Avenue North early Thursday morning.

Police say they are searching for six people they believe are involved in the break-in.

The initial investigation revealed that the front glass door of the home was smashed with a hammer, allowing the group of thieves to enter the house.

Once inside, they confronted the homeowner and demanded the keys to the cars parked in the driveway.

The group was able to access the vehicles, but was unable to steal them thanks to secondary anti-theft measures installed by the owners.

They left the area before police arrived, and managed to make off with the car keys.

Investigators say no injuries were reported.
