From Cottage Country to Zombie City – Barrie, Just Outside Toronto! 🇨🇦

I spent yesterday on the ground in Barrie, Ontario, a small city about an hour north of Toronto where Mayor Alex Nuttall declared a State of Emergency more than two weeks ago. The declaration came in response to a growing crisis of homelessness, open-air drug use, rising crime, and a recent double homicide in a local homeless encampment. Since then, the city has grappled with overdoses, fires, and violence linked to these camps, pushing officials to enforce stricter measures while residents struggle to cope with the fallout. In this video, I walk the streets of Barrie, talk with people directly affected, and document what life looks like inside a community living through this emergency.
