Jurors watched a violent confrontation playout on a screen at Peterborough Courthouse on Thursday.
Surveillance video showed a masked man striking a store clerk with a metal baseball bat inside a Circle K in downtown Peterborough, Ont.
The attack happened just after 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2024. The man was later sentenced after pleading guilty to robbery with violence. Thursday’s trial, however, is about what happened after the initial attack.
As Global’s Mark Woodhouse reports, the store clerk was charged with aggravated assault after taking control of the bat and striking back.
