In this video we explore the oil boomtown of Devon, Alberta.

Devon sits on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River and it’s located about 30 km southwest of Edmonton. It has a current population of about 7,000 people and it is part of the greater Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

The town was carefully planned and constructed by Imperial Oil after the major 1947 Leduc No. 1 oil discovery nearby. Devon is a relatively new community and one of Alberta’s classic oil boomtowns.

This area has a lot to offer visitors – small town charm, an impressive collection of local history and excellent access to the surrounding river valley.
