I entered Bel Air, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in the middle of an active gang war — one of the most dangerous places in the world.
For a short time, I was allowed inside the community to see life from the inside. What I witnessed wasn’t just violence or fear, but people trying to survive day by day in conditions most will never experience.
This isn’t a place you’re meant to see, and these aren’t stories you usually hear. Life here is fragile, unpredictable, and never guaranteed in the streets of Port-au-Prince.
I don’t expect everyone to understand why I go where I go, but moments like this stay with you forever.
