In this video, DJ Zar of Borough Sound hits Sankofa Square to attend a Canada 1st Rally around Anti-Immigration. However, amidst the protest, he encounters counter-protests and has several different interactions with a wide range of individuals – from counter-protestors to police officers. With an open mind, I wanted to document what I saw and hear directly from people on both sides.
Is Canadian nationalism growing, fading, or transforming? Is immigration really our biggest problem? In this video, I explore the tensions, conversations, and atmosphere surrounding the Canada First movement and the broader cultural moment in Canada.
