An infamous Toronto rapper has been cleared of murder charges on Monday, in a surprising turn of events.
‘Top 5,’ whose real name is Hassan Ali, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old student in 2021.
The case against Ali collapsed after the judge excluded evidence the Crown called “crucial,” which included music videos and social media posts. His defence lawyer argued prosecutors attempted to use his music against him.
