The trial has begun for an off-duty Toronto police officer charged with assault causing bodily harm, after an interaction with a Brampton teenager in 2021.
Calvin Au was originally charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Chadd Facey, but the charges were downgraded just prior to the start of the trial.
As the trial continues, Const. Au is suspended with pay.
