Episode 120 of The Hu$tle Podcast features Montreal battle rap legend Freddy Gruesome, the most viewed French battle rapper to ever come out of the city.

In this wide-ranging conversation, Freddy takes us through his journey from battle rap stages to the world of animation, sharing how a lifelong passion for art helped him carve out a successful creative career beyond music. We also dive into some of the pop culture influences that helped shape his identity, including his love for The Lion King and how it inspired his unforgettable Rafiki Minaj moniker. From there, we geek out over classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles memories, iconic characters, and the impact these childhood influences continue to have on artists and creatives today.

No episode would be complete without talking hip-hop, and Freddy gives his thoughts on Drake, his latest releases, and why he believes many people criticize the Toronto superstar simply because it’s become the popular thing to do. We discuss public perception, internet culture, and the challenges of having honest conversations in today’s social media landscape.

Freddy also opens up about the legal issues he faced over comments made online, shedding light on the consequences of words in the digital age, freedom of expression, and what he learned from the experience.
