Between checkpoints and empty horizons, I meet a nomadic family living entirely off the land, share meals of local dishes prepared the way they’ve been for generations, and experience a side of Afghanistan few outsiders ever see. This isn’t just a drive — it’s a journey through risk, resilience, and everyday life on one of the country’s most misunderstood roads.
