Following sentencing in what is considered to be the largest case of voyeurism ever prosecuted in Canada, there are questions about what Saanich police are doing now to help identify hundreds of victims. The case involves 652 girls and women – only 36 have been identified.
Yin Yeung Derek Chan, a 39-year-old man from Vancouver Island, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison with time served.
During his arrest, detectives seized devices containing thousands of images and nearly 30 hours of “offending video” recorded without knowledge or consent.
Police said during trial that investigators had identified 652 individual women and girls as victims in the case.
